Gayatri Mantra

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥

Om bhūrbhuvaḥ svaḥ tatsaviturvareṇyaṃ bhargo devasya dhīmahi dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt ||

We meditate on the adorable glory of the radiant Sun; may He inspire our intelligence.

Yajnopavita Mantra

ॐ यज्ञोपवीतं परमं पवित्रं प्रजापतेर्यत्सहजं पुरस्तात् । आयुष्यमग्र्यं प्रतिमुञ्च शुभ्रं यज्ञोपवीतं बलमस्तु तेजः ॥

Om yajñopavītaṃ paramaṃ pavitraṃ prajāpateryatsahajaṃ purastāt | Āyuṣyamagriyaṃ pratimuñca śubhraṃ yajñopavītaṃ balamastu tejaḥ ||

The sacred thread is supremely sacred, born with Prajapati from the beginning. Wear this pure thread giving long life; may the yajnopavita give you strength and brilliance.

Savitri Upadesha

ॐ तत्सवितुर्वृणीमहे वयं देवस्य भोजनम् । श्रेष्ठं सर्वधातमं तुरं भगस्य धीमहि ॥

Om tatsaviturvṛṇīmahe vayaṃ devasya bhojanam | Śreṣṭhaṃ sarvadhātamaṃ turaṃ bhagasya dhīmahi ||

We choose that of Savita, the divine sustenance. We meditate on the best, all-sustaining, swift blessings of Bhaga.

Medhajana Mantra

ॐ मेधां देवी जुषमाणा न आगाद्विश्वाची भद्रा सुमनस्यमाना । त्वया जुष्टा नुदमाना दुरुक्तान् बृहद्वदेम विदथे सुवीराः ॥

Om medhāṃ devī juṣamāṇā na āgādviśvācī bhadrā sumanasyamānā | Tvayā juṣṭā nudamānā duruktān bṛhadvadema vidathe suvīrāḥ ||

May the goddess Intelligence, all-encompassing, auspicious, well-disposed, accepting us, come to us. Favored by you, repelling evil speech, may we speak grandly in the assembly, endowed with heroes.
