Most online gemstone tools — and many street-corner astrologers — recommend a gem based on your Moon sign (rashi). The classical framework reads from your Lagna (ascendant). The difference matters because the same gemstone can be deeply beneficial for one lagna and actively harmful for another.

Consider Blue Sapphire (Neelam — Saturn's stone). For Taurus and Libra ascendants, Saturn is the yogakaraka — the chart's most generative planet, ruling kendra-trikona combinations.
