Etymology: Pum (male) + Savana (generating/quickening) - traditionally aimed at ensuring a male child, now understood as ceremony for fetus protection and healthy development

May two male sons be born, may Prajapati make it male, may others born be male, may this one grow as male
ॐ अग्निः प्राणान्त्समाधत्तां वातः प्राणान्त्समाधत्ताम् । सूर्यो गर्भं ददातु ते चन्द्रमा गर्भं ददातु ते ॥
Om agniḥ prāṇāntsamādhattāṃ vātaḥ prāṇāntsamādhattām | Sūryo garbhaṃ dadātu te candramā garbhaṃ dadātu te ||
May Agni establish life forces, may Vayu establish life forces, may Surya grant you pregnancy, may Chandra grant you pregnancy

Om suparṇo'si garutmān trivṛtte śiro gāyatraṃ cakṣuḥ |
