Celebrates the birth of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, born to King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya in Ayodhya.
Birth of Rama
After performing Putrakameshti Yagna, King Dasharatha received divine Payasam which was shared among his three queens. On Chaitra Shukla Navami, at noon, Lord Rama was born to Queen Kaushalya. The same day, Bharata was born to Kaikeyi, and twins Lakshmana and Shatrughna to Sumitra.

Rama's Purpose
Vishnu incarnated as Rama to destroy the demon king Ravana, who had become invincible due to boons. Rama's life established the ideals of dharma for humanity.
