About

Mangal Gauri Vrat is a sacred fast observed by married women for the long life and prosperity of their husbands. The vrat is dedicated to Goddess Gauri (Parvati), the consort of Lord Shiva. 'Mangal' means auspicious and 'Gauri' refers to the golden-complexioned goddess. This vrat is observed on Tuesdays, especially the four Tuesdays of Shravan month. Newly married women in their first year of marriage especially observe this vrat. It is believed that Goddess Gauri blesses the devotee with a happy married life, good fortune, and protects the husband from all dangers.
