Surya Dhyanam

सूर्य ध्यान • Surya Dhyanam

Dhyan Sun God (Surya)

About

Surya Dhyanam contains sacred meditation verses for contemplating the divine form of Surya, the Sun God - the visible manifestation of the divine, the soul of the universe, and the source of all life. These dhyana shlokas describe Surya's magnificent form - his golden chariot drawn by seven horses representing the seven days and colors, his radiant crown and armor, his two hands holding lotuses or displaying blessing gestures. The Sun is considered the pratyaksha devata (visible god) whose darshan is available daily. Through meditation on Surya, devotees gain vitality, health, clarity of mind, spiritual illumination, and freedom from diseases.
