Pradosh Vrat on Tuesday — Bhauma (Mars) day. Worship combines Hanuman and Shiva. Effective for clearing debts and health issues caused by Mangal dosha.

Vrat Vidhi (Procedure)

    Day Fast

    Observe full-day fast or one-meal-only fast. No grains, beans, onion, garlic, meat. Fruits, milk, water permitted.

    Pradosh Kaal Bath

    About 1.5 hours before sunset, take a clean bath. Wear white or red clothes. Apply bhasma (sacred ash) or sandalwood tilak. Pradosh Kaal is the 90-minute window straddling sunset (45 mins before to 45 mins after sunrise per shastra; some traditions extend to 3 hours).

    Shiva Puja in Pradosh Kaal

    Setup Shivlinga (or photo of Shiva-Parvati). Offer water/milk abhishek (rudra-abhishek if available). Bel patra (3 leaves), white flowers, dhatura, bhasma, dhoop, deepak. Recite Mahamrityunjaya, Shiv Tandav Stotram, or Shiv Chalisa. Read the Pradosh Vrat Katha.

    Aarti and Prasad

    Perform Shiv aarti. Offer naivedya (food offering): kheer, fruits, dry fruits. Distribute prasad after aarti.

    Parana

    After Pradosh Kaal completes (post-sunset), break the fast with the prasad. Some keep continued fast till next morning. No alcohol, no meat that night.

ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्। उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात्॥
Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushti-vardhanam. Urvarukamiva Bandhanaan Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritaat.
Meaning: We worship the three-eyed Lord, fragrant and nourishing. May He liberate us from death's bondage as a cucumber from its stem — for immortality, not death.

Pradosh Stuti
जय देव जगन्नाथ जय शंकर शाश्वत। जय सर्वसुराध्यक्ष जय सर्वसुरार्चित॥
Jaya Deva Jagannatha Jaya Shankara Shashvat. Jaya Sarvasura-dhyaksha Jaya Sarvasura-archita.
Meaning: Victory to the Lord of the universe, the eternal Shankara, chief of all gods, worshipped by all gods.
